To start he was in IVF that’s a big decision on its own. To undertake that decision is already one kind of courage; to do it in another country – that’s a different ball game. You are dealing with time zones, old visa paperwork, new medical systems that may be foreign to you as well as all of the emotions that come with fertility treatment- and we help international patients deal with these hurdles every day at CureSpots. We see you. And we want to do as clear and easy as we possibly can.

India has emerged as one of the popular IVF destinations globally – for more reasons than affordability in our IVF costs – but just because the clinical quality truly stands tall and competes with the best in the world.

Before you get on the plane: Weeks 1-3

Everything starts remotely. An ideal IVF doctor never waits for you to sit in the clinic.

What happens in this phase:

  • Consulting your fertility specialist virtually for a medical history
  • You have baseline blood work and a local antral follicle count (AFC) ultrasound
  • Reports come to you digitally and your protocol is personalized for your unique body
  • Visa documentation assistance and travel planning help from CureSpots coordinators

This stage generally lasts 2–3 weeks and it sets the whole groundwork. Don’t rush it.

Arriving in India: Days 1–3

We are not rushing the confirmation of events for first few days. Your fertility specialist will perform key scans again locally to confirm that you establish a baseline ahead of stimulation. That is how it is done in the top IVF clinics; no assumptions made, no shortcuts taken.

The whole process – from airport pickup to hotel accommodation close to the clinic to a care coordinator who will remain accessible throughout your stay – is all arranged by CureSpots.

Stimulation Phase: Days 4–14

Now is where the hard work really begins – at least for your body.

What this phase looks like:

  • Self-administering hormone shots (we will train you) once a day
  • Dose checks every two to three days for ultrasounds and blood tests
  • Your doctor modifies medication doses depending on your follicles response
  • Egg retrieval: Usually after 10-14 day when follicles reach optimal size

This phase is the one that most of our patients find hardest to get through. It’s okay to feel that way. The body is doing something incredibly amazing.

Egg Retrieval, Fertilisation & Embryo Transfer: Days 15-20

It is a brief, day-case procedure performed under sedation – most patients are resting within hours. This is followed by fertilisation in the lab over 3-5 days, where the quality of embryos is checked before they are transferred.

Two scenarios from here:

  • Other transfers – embryo transferred on Day 19–20, therefore your in-house was around 3 weeks
  • Embryo freezing – all embryos are frozen, transfer during a subsequent cycle (plus the option of remote whole embryo freezing if your uterine lining can be monitored by a local practitioner).

Even with travel and accommodation added onto the cost of IVF in India, it is still considerably cheaper than the UK, US or Europe – and without ever compromising on care.

After You Return Home

CureSpots stays connected. The pregnancy test (beta-hCG) is carried out 10-14 days after the transfer at either our clinic or with your local doctor, and all results are sent directly to a member of your CureSpots team.

FAQs

Q: How long do I need to stay in India for IVF?

International patients require a minimum of 18-22 days in India for a fresh transfer cycle. This means that not all modalities are as vital, and a freeze-all approach might warrant a shorter first visit.

Q: What is the IVF cost in India compared to Western countries?

In India, the average cost of IVF is between $2,000–$4,000 USD per cycle – so it can be 3–5 times less than similar treatment in the UK or US, but with better success rates at their top clinics.

Q: Is it fine to speak to a fertility professional before I am traveling?

Absolutely. With CureSpots you have whatever ahead of any commitment with a virtual consult. You must feel informed and confident before you ever book a flight.

Q: What if I want to cancel my cycle mid-way?

It happens – and it is not a failure: It is your doctor playing defense to protect your outcome. Be it rebooking, replanning, regrouping, CureSpots helps you do that and avoids the hassle of having to do all on your own.
